Dr Elliott graduated from Otago Medical school and trained in Ophthalmology in New Zealand and became a Fellow of the Australian College of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Surgeons. He was Hearst Fellow at University of California San Francisco for 1 year where he gained expertise in Neuro-ophthalmology. He returned to NZ and practised as a general Ophthalmologist with special interest in neuro-ophthalmology and strabismus.
He is involved in clinical teaching to medical students and ophthalmic trainees and is an ophthalmic anatomy examiner for the Australasian College of Ophthalmologists.

Drs Elliott and Sharp are husband and wife. They work together, combining their Medical Retina, Electrodiagnostic and Neuro-ophthalmic interests in an ophthalmic diagnostic service.
